Mission Statement
The mission of the library media program is to provide a well-organized collection of quality materials and diverse resources that supports the curriculum, increases academic achievement, and encourages the development of lifelong learners and readers.
Vision
The Crestview middle school library program provides a dynamic learning space where all students feel welcomed, valued, and inspired. Through equitable access to diverse resources, innovative technology, and engaging instruction, the library supports academic growth, creativity, and social-emotional development. The program cultivates a passion for reading, strengthens research and digital literacy skills, and prepares students to think critically, collaborate effectively, and responsibly navigate information in a global society.
Goals
It is the intent of the Rockwood School District Library Media program to provide the means for supporting students in their development and growth as life-long readers and thinkers. These means include:
- The integration of information literacy skills throughout all subject area curriculum.
- A resource-based approach to promoting information literacy by implementing a program based upon teacher/librarian collaboration.
- A wide range of resources, non-fiction and fiction, in a variety of formats to support subject area curriculum, personal interests, and recreational reading.
- Maximum access to LMC resources and personnel by students and teachers throughout the school day.
- Opportunities for students to cultivate a life-long appreciation for learning and reading through successful experiences in the Library Media Center.
- Current and reliable electronic resources including on-line subscription databases and equipment to meet the needs of students and staff, while supporting the district guidelines for Technology Competencies.
Parents have the ability to receive daily email notifications regarding the materials their child has checked out of the school library. Parents wishing to receive these daily emails should contact their child's school librarian to activate this feature.
