Connections

It is important for students to feel connected to each other, to the curriculum, and to our community. We foster connections between students by providing opportunities for them to collaborate on projects, to participate in group activities, and to get to know each other as people.  We also connect to the curriculum by allowing students to apply what they learn in the classroom to real-world situations. Finally, we connect to our community by partnering with local businesses and organizations. It is important for students to feel like they are a valuable part of something bigger than themselves.

Accountability

We are all accountable for our words and actions.  We understand that middle school students are experiencing emotions that are at times hard to process, understand, and communicate clearly.  We coach students to understand these experiences and make good decisions that ultimately reflect the type of person they want to be known for.  Accountability, correction, and repair are important pieces to maintaining connections and excellence.

Respect

We are all expected to respect ourselves, our people, and our spaces. As we share a common vision, we practice respect by treating individuals with consideration and active listening, regardless of differences, in search of understanding and growth.  We value personal well-being, boundaries, and self-worth.  We also demonstrate respect by adhering to the expectations of the Rockwood School District and our Crestview Community.

Excellence in Academics, Leadership & Service, & Extracurriculars

All students should have access to a rigorous and challenging academic program. We offer a variety of courses to meet the needs of all learners, and we are committed to providing support for students who need it. It is also important for students to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. We encourage our students to ask questions, collaborate, and think outside the box.  All students should have the opportunity to develop their leadership skills. Students are expected to be leaders of themselves in service to others.  We also encourage our students to participate in community service projects. Students need to learn how to give back to their communities.  Extra-curricular activities are an important part of a well-rounded education. We offer a variety of clubs and activities for students to choose from, including arts, music, athletics, and academics. Extra-curricular activities help students develop their talents and interests. They also allow students to make friends and learn new skills.
